And now, another Fact of Congress
Back in the early days of our country, almost all of our citizens had come from northern Europe.
When a congressman from those days spoke with his constituency, by and large he and they looked pretty much the same and also had many shared values.

The United States is now a tremendously diverse nation, with people from all over the world becoming citizens.
This creates a special challenge for todays members of Congress, as they must govern a population that has vastly different backgrounds and beliefs.
Passing laws that take all of us into consideration requires patience and a willingness to seek out and listen to all of the different voices that make up 21st century America.
