Why Congress Matters

And now, another Fact of Congress

Over 200 years ago, when the creators of our constitution designed three branches of government, they spent most of their time defining the role of Congress.

You see, they believed that without a Congress, freedom would be hard to maintain. Just imagine if Congress didn't exist.

The Executive branch, the President, would be the only part of the government that could create laws!

Sure, the judicial branch, especially the Supreme Court, could overturn such foolish laws—but remember, the judges are appointed by the President!

Fortunately for us, Congress does indeed exist, and its role as a check on the powers of the other branches of our government is a cornerstone of our freedoms!

So is Congress important to us and our way of life?—

You bet it is!

And that's another Fact of Congress
