Here's a word about the word "compromise."...a very important Congressional concept!
Some people mistakenly think it means giving in, or losing an argument. ( different voice than narrator)'I surrender! I surrender!'
In the case of Congress, where there is a lot of debate, diversity and differing opinion, opposing points of view come face to face almost every day.
By compromising, our legislators can move beyond the argument phase and begin working on the solutions to the problems that come before them.
In fact, the idea for Congress to have two chambers was the solution to a major disagreement back in 1789, and has, itself, become known as "The Great Compromise."
